Counselling & Psychotherapy Kate Juggins

My Experience and Qualifications

I’ve provided counselling and psychotherapy in Nottingham since 1997 and am a postgraduate member of the Sherwood Training Institute (Nottingham).

Having originally trained in a Humanistic-Person Centred approach, I now integrate a variety of working models depending on the needs of the individual client.

Previously I’ve worked as an associate counsellor and psychotherapist for Womens' Centres in Derby and Sheffield. I’ve also worked as a counsellor in both NHS and educational settings but now am very happy focusing on my private practice.

I work with either individuals or couples on an open-ended or short-term basis, dependent on need. I also offer group counselling and facilitate a range of educationally based workshops.

My qualifications include:

  • Masters Degree in Humanistic-Person Centred Psychotherapy
  • Post-graduate Diploma in Clinical Supervision
  • Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling
  • Diploma in Humanistic-Person Centred Psychotherapy

I love learning! - and, as part of my ongoing professional development, I regularly attend seminars and workshops with leading international trainers and practitioners. These have included:

  • Studying within an international Professional Development Group, lead by Richard Erskine Phd, Training Director of the Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy, Canada.

  • Undergoing training in couples work, lead by highly experienced Relate professionals.

  • Attending a workshop at the London Sleep School, run by Dr Guy Meadows, to learn about his pioneering work in the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for the treatment of insomnia.

  • Attending a variety of workshops run by Positive Outcomes, based on exploring the impact of trauma and the development of dissociation

  • Training run by Babette Rothschild, highly respected psychotherapist and theorist, focusing on embodied process.

Whilst being a mandatory requirement of my accrediting body, the UKCP, Continuous Professional Development enriches my practice and is vital in keeping me abreast of new developments and thinking.

    Other Relevant Experience

    Psychiatric Disorders and Personality Disorders:

I’ve experience of successfully working with people with mild psychiatric disorders or personality disorders and those with a substance addiction.

However, if your condition is chronic I’ll be able to advise you of agencies who are specialist in this work.

If you’re unsure, feel free to contact me and we can talk about the best way forward for you.

    Previous Work Experience:

Before my career change in mid-life I’d worked for over 25 years in the Civil Service, so I’ve a good understanding of organisational dynamics and am well placed to support people, who are trying to cope with work-related problems.

    Supervision of Clinical Practice:

I offer supervision to both experienced practitioners and to therapists in training.

As with my clients, I work with clients in a relationally supportive and creative way, and always tailored to the specific needs of the individual. This Integrative approach provides supervises with challenge and support, regardless of their theoretical orientation.

If you’re unsure about your own needs from Counselling or Psychotherapy, I’m very happy to discuss your options with you. You can contact me on:
